Hello!  I am Major Moma.  (Yes, I have a real name but I would prefer not to use it here to protect the innocent, and maybe not-so innocent)

I am a working mother and I LOVE my job.  I don't work because I have to.  I work because I love what I do and I am good at it.  I am also the mother of three children.  (I also have an amazing husband who helps keep this crazy life sustainable.)  They are the joy of my life.  So yes, I have two VERY big things in my life, my career and my family.  Both give me much joy but both also demand a lot from me.  It is a constant struggle to do well at both.
I cope with this challenge with two main techniques.
    1. My faith.  God, the creator of universe, amazingly decided to love me and his love for me strengthens me.  My faith is the foundation of who I am.  I may not post about it much, but is the background music to all my thoughts and actions.  Whatever good that comes from me, is a result of His great love and work in me.
    2. My Sewing.  Compared to God, this probably seems pretty trivial and meaningless.  But sewing is my hobby and I am passionate about it.

When this blog started, I shared it with my two sisters and mother.  We each chose one topic to share about thinking we would each go in our own direction and the blog would be a place for us to share together.  However, they did not enjoy blogging the way I do and they each have decided to stop.

My fun loving sisters and mother.

So, after I took a break (more work induced than by choice), I decided to change the direction of the blog.

My family’s lifestyle and my occupation require frequent moving. We have lived in Washington State, Virginia, Alaska, and Germany. Our philosophy is that we should get to know the region so we plan our vacations around local sights. My husband and I love to travel, so the forced moves actually fit the life we want.

I was looking at ways to adjust the blog and I thought this would be a perfect topic to add. It is such a big part of my life and it is natural that I would blog about it. Also, we have learned several lessons about traveling with children that recently it became obvious that others would like to learn these lessons.

I will begin to blog about some of the great places we have been. As we live and move to these places, we have tried to enjoy all we could. I am going to recap these past adventures and weave them into current trips while continuing to make sewing related posts.
